I Love It When You Call Me Big Prop-A

This weekend marks the end of another football season, which means the beginning of a sad slow transition into the season of the only sport on to watch is baseball every couple of nights. This also means that your fantasy leagues are done, unless you are one of those psychos that keep up with an MLB fantasy. That means the time for all you degenerates out there who get a thrill off of betting on games is only getting less and less. Now I don’t know about you, but I am already down on this weekend thanks to Michigan letting Iowa absolutely throttle them on the road. So, like your Super Bowl spread for Sunday let’s go overboard and out with a bang. That’s right we are talking Super Bowl prop bets!

Like most people who bet on games fairly regularly just focus on the usual over/under, money lines, or spread. However, it is a special occasion, so why not, let’s look at some prop bets and what I think you should toss your money on. Before diving in I just want to say I owe you nothing if you lose on my predictions, but if you win, you are welcome to/and I do accept checks. The first one I want to take a look at is a pretty simple one and a 50/50 shot at winning, the coin toss result. Now, I have played enough semi-pro football to know all of the jokes about dudes loving to call heads because…. Well you know. Me on the other hand, I am all about “tails never fails.” Good thing about this is that the payout is -105 either way, so plug in $20 and get almost $20 back on top of it when you play tails.

It wouldn’t be the NFL without some sort of talk about kneeling during the National Anthem, so of course there is prop bet about it. Will someone kneel during the National Anthem? This is a tough one because I think both of these coaches has a ton of respect from their players and holds their players to certain guidelines. With that being said I think there are some players in this game that I can definitely picture taking a knee or maybe some who are looking to join Kap’s Nike campaign. The risk is worth the reward as well as the payout for “yes” since it is +300. Put $10 down for a knee to go down and win an extra $30 when one hits that turf.

When I say they have prop bets on almost anything, I mean anything. You can bet on how long it will take Gladys Knight to sing the National Anthem, what she will be wearing, will she use a mic in the stand, etc. One of the ones I kind of like that actually pertains to football is how many targets will Tom Brady have. The line is +/- 7 targets and I am going with the under on this one. I took a look at the NextGen stats from his previous 3 games and the most targets he had was 6 in any of those games. Along with that I feel like Tom Brady like most quarterbacks is going to go to the guys he trusts early and often, aka expect a heavy dose of James White (shout out Wisco) yet again.  Toss $20 down and get your money back and an extra $26 on top of it.

I will toss down one more prop bet that is pretty amusing and if it hits is a good payout but odds are a little more dicey with this one. Before I do that, if you haven’t yet, take a look at the hundreds of prop bets they have out there, like how many times will Sean McVey have to be pulled back by one of his coaches, how many times will Donald Trump tweet after the game, how many plays will Tony Romo accurately predict, the list goes on and on. That leads us to my final one and that is what color is the liquid poured on the coach at the end of the game. Now the favored pick for this year is clear, but clear has only been the case in 3 Super Bowl’s ever since the whole tradition started. Good news is if there isn’t one like there wasn’t for the New England overtime win against Atlanta it is a wash and you get your money back. In high school we only had 2 colors to choose from and it was yellow/lime green or orange. I don’t know if that is the reason or if it is because this color has been the color the 4 of the last 7 Super Bowls, either way orange is a sleeper pick this year at +450 and my pick for this one. $10 down win $45 on top, $20 you got it if you are good at math, $90.

If you are like me and still a little depressed watching this Super Bowl, whether it be because you really thought your double doinking team should be there or because it marks the end of another NFL season, these bets and winning some money should help get you back in the game and on the edge of your seat the whole game.
